Two new leaders in academic and workforce education have been named for the NC Community College System.
Lisa Eads will be the associate vice president for programs and Nate Humphrey will be the associate vice president for workforce continuing education. Their appointments have been approved by the State Board of Community Colleges.
Eads succeeds Wesley Beddard, who will become president of Martin Community College on July 1.
Eads has served in roles at the System Office since 2014, most recently as the director of academic programs. Previously, she was a faculty member and student advisor at UNC Greensboro. From 2000 to 2012, she was a faculty member and director of early childhood education programs at Surry Community College. Eads received a doctorate in educational leadership from Keiser University. She also earned degrees from Salem College, Wake Forest University, UNC Wilmington and Surry Community College. She will start the new position on July 1.
Humphrey succeeds Margaret Roberton, who will become the vice president, workforce development, at Central Carolina Community College.
Since 2018, Humphrey has been the workforce education director for the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges. Previously he served as state director of workforce continuing education for the NC Community College System for two years. He was also an assistant state auditor with the NC Office of the State Auditor. He served in roles in workforce education at both Wake Tech and Guilford Tech community colleges. Humphrey earned a bachelor’s degree from UNC Wilmington and a master’s degree from UNC Greensboro. He will start the position Aug. 1.
“The NC Community College System Office is losing two accomplished leaders in Wesley Beddard and Margaret Roberton, though as they move to new positions, our colleges will benefit from their expertise,” said Kimberly Gold, senior vice president and chief academic officer of the system. “Lisa Eads and Nate Humphrey have the skills, energy and experience to carry on the work and help us move forward with our mission. We’re fortunate to have these two high-caliber leaders in new roles, and I’m excited to see what they will do.”
