Given their expanded policymaking authority, EdNC will be covering the Charter School Review Board meetings in 2025. We have retained Kristen Blair to cover the monthly meetings. Kristen has written for EdNC since 2015, and I think she is among the best education reporters in the state. She currently serves as the communications director for the North Carolina Coalition for Charter Schools. We plan to disclose that in both her bio and the articles. Hannah Vinueza McClellan and I are editing, and EdNC retains editorial control. Kristen’s first article is included in this EdDaily. We hope you will republish and share.
Ten years ago, on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2025, I pushed publish on the very first EdDaily. The following Monday, John Drescher ran a paid one-page ad for me in The News & Observer that said, “EdNC invites you — all of you — to participate in a conversation about our public schools at EdNC.org.” We started with an audience of zero, and now we have more than 1.2 million unique readers access content on our site annually with more than 2 million pageviews. Many more find us on social media and through Google search. And we send out about 300,000 emails a week. Thank you for participating in the conversation and for sticking with me for a decade. I am grateful.
