Claire is a social research specialist at the UNC Charlotte Urban Institute. Claire’s primary focus at the institute is the Indicators Data Partners and Regional Database. In this capacity, she is involved with multiple client-based research initiatives and needs assessments for various organizations in the Charlotte community. Her responsibilities include project design and management, data collection and review, report writing and review, client relations, and graduate student supervision.
Claire earned a bachelor’s degree in geography with a concentration in environmental science from Villanova University (Villanova, Pa.) in 2008, and her master’s degree in geography from UNC Charlotte in 2013.
Zach Szczepaniak

Zach is a social research specialist at the UNC Charlotte Urban Institute. His primary focus is the Indicators Data Partners and Regional Database. In this capacity, he is involved with visualizing data for multiple client-based research initiatives and needs assessments for various organizations in the Charlotte community. Zach’s responsibilities include data collection and review, data analysis, designing maps and charts using software such as ArcMap, Tableau, and Google Maps, and graduate student supervision.
Zach earned a bachelor’s degree in geoscience with a concentration in geographic information science (GIS) from Murray State University in 2011, and his master’s degree in geography with a dual concentration in urban-regional analysis and GIS from UNC Charlotte in 2013.
